
Bulgaria •
Discovered in 1944, the tomb is dated from the Hellenistic period, about the end of IV century BC. It was located near Sevtopolis - the capital of the king of Thrace Sevt III, and is a part of a large Thracian necropolis. Round-shaped building of the tomb - "folos" - has a narrow corridor and a round burial chamber with murals, depicting Thracian funeral ceremonies and culture. This painting are the most well-preserved pieces of art of the Hellenistic period in Bulgaria
