Bulgaria is the country in Southern Europe, which occupies part of the Balkan Peninsula and overlooking the Black Sea. Fertile land occupy a significant part of the country (from the Danube to the Balkan Mountains). Further, up to the Rhodope Mountains are hilly plains, which were called Thrace from the tenth century BC. But in the first century AD these lands came to Ancient Rome. In 4-5 centuries BC the Balkan Peninsula was attacked by ProtoSlavic tribes, and a hundred years later - by Asian tribes of Bulgarians. Modern Bulgarians are descendants of them all. In the 90 th years of the 14 th century, these lands were seized by the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire, which owned it for almost 500 years. After defeating the Ottoman Empire during the war of 1877-1878, Russia brought long-awaited freedom to people of Bulgaria. In 1908 there appeared the own royal dynasty. During the Second World war, Bulgaria supported Nazi Germany, but has refused to send troops to the Eastern Front. In 1944 the Red Army, based on the people rebellion in the country, has freed the country from the Germanic invaders. Communists came to power in the country. Their authority has collapsed in 1990 as a result of the political crisis in Bulgaria and the "velvet revolution". Democratic forces came to power in the country. Tourists are attracted to the country, first of all, by ancient, beautiful Bulgarian churches, colorful festivals, as well as world-renowned resorts with picturesque sandy beaches, a wonderful, sunny climate and relatively low prices. Seaside resorts are not the only thing that this fascinating country can boast of. There are many hot springs and mineral spas here. Severe mountains Rila and Pirin are the basis for picturesque ski resorts, where a season lasts from mid-December to mid April. Through the whole country lies the Balkan mountain range, offering excellent conditions and opportunities for mountain tourism.
