Berlin is in season all year round. As the days become shorter and the temperatures drop, the German capital continues to attract visitors with around 60 Christmas markets, shopping in its trendy boutiques and the biggest open-air New Year’s Eve party in the world. Climbing at the BergWerk

Wobbly bridges, narrow wooden walkways – Europe’s largest indoor high-rope garden “Bergwerk” in Hellersdorf offers climbing opportunities on ten courses. You can also try out your climbing skills here at a height of 3 metres. Professional climbers and anyone who is not afraid of heights can get an adrenalin kick at 20 metres above ground here.

Memorial for Sinti and Roma

On 24 October, the memorial to the Sinti and Roma who lost their lives during the Nazi regime will be opened. Located in Scheidemannstraße, in front of the Reichstag, the memorial is based on a design by the Israeli artist Dani Karavan and consists of a black pool with a retractable stele on which a fresh rose is placed daily.

28th International Short Film Festival

Seven days, seven cinemas, 500 films: from 13 to 18 November, the Interfilm Short Film Festival in Berlin invites visitors to the screens around Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. This year, the focus is on Africa. In addition to the screenings there are competitions in six categories, a film quiz and a new score for the short films.

Berlin WelcomeCard for art and culture lovers

The Berlin WelcomeCard Museumsinsel offers visitors free access to the exhibitions held at the five museums. Dance, theatre and cabaret fans can receive up to 50% off the admission price in around 40 theatres in the German capital. The card is valid for 72 hours and also offers unlimited travel on public transport.

Jazz is in the air

Lovers of Bepop and Blue Notes should watch out: from 1 to 4 November Berlin will once again be the Jazz capital. This year’s theme is “Jazz is a Spirit” and the festival will present the American musical style in all its diversity. One particular highlight this year: a homage to the German Jazz pianist, Jutta Hipp.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Find of Nefertiti, a special exhibition, “In the light of Amarna. 100 years of the Find of Nefertiti“ will open on 7 December at the Neues Museum. The exhibition will focus on items from the time of the Pharaohs Akhenaten and Tutankhamen, which have not previously been exhibited, and will transport visitors to the kingdom on the River Nile.
