Select the country and object's type Berlin is looking for its biggest Facebook fans

On track for its first million

Berlin, 11 August 2011 With well over 800,000 fans, Berlin is one of the most popular cities on Facebook. To reach the million fan mark, be Berlin and visitBerlin, in conjunction with Berlin\'s Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit, today launched the \"Make it a Million\" campaign, calling on fans of Berlin from all over the world to upload to Facebook a 30-minute clip proclaiming their love for the city.

The biggest Berlin fans will be invited to enjoy an unforgettable experience in the German capital: to meet DJ, musician and producer Paul van Dyk, walk the red carpet at the Berlinale, take a peek behind the scenes at Babelsberg Studio, accompany designer Michael Michalsky to his StyleNite or watch a Hertha match from the VIP lounge.

\"Berlin has many facets; Berlin has many fans,\" says Berlin\'s Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit. \"We want to thank our city\'s fans by giving them a very special Berlin experience. I\'m really looking forward to seeing the declarations of love to our city on Facebook very soon.\" Wowereit recorded the very first fan clip and uploaded it to Facebook in the red Berlin-Boxx, which will be on Potsdamer Platz on 10 and 11 August 2011.

René Gurka, Managing Director of Berlin Partner GmbH: \"In comparison to many other big cities, Berlin is an affordable city. But no amount of money can buy the experiences up for grabs with this campaign.\" Anyone wanting to be in with a chance of winning one of these amazing experiences should become a fan of the Berlin page on Facebook and declare why they are Berlin\'s biggest fan. \"Facebook is a gigantic public voting machine,\" says Burkhard Kieker, CEO of visitBerlin. \"With more than 800,000 fans already, it just goes to show how Berlin fascinates the world.\" If the million fan mark is reached, fans will be able to cast their vote for the best clips.

The online campaign is being supported by an offline campaign running in four German cities. All native Berliners and visitors to the city can record their Berlin clip and upload it to Facebook today and tomorrow (10/11 August 2011) in the Berlin-Boxx on Potsdamer Platz. The box will then be going on tour: From 12 to 14 August, it will be on the Rheinpromenade in Cologne, on 16 and 17 August, on Munich\'s Karlsplatz (Stachus) and on 23 and 24 August, on the Zeil in Frankfurt.
