Belfast welcomes MV Marina

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Cllr. Niall Ó Donnghaile was joined by Fiona Ure from Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau (BVCB) and Michael Robinson from Belfast Harbour as he presented Captain Dimitrios Flokos from MV Marina with a plaque from the city of Belfast as the cruise liner docked in Belfast for the first time. The cruise liner, which was launched in April 2011, brought with it over 2,000 passengers and crew who were welcomed to Belfast by a musical reception.

As part of the Cruise Belfast Initiative, the city will welcome 33 cruise ships in 2011 and over 58,000 passengers and crew, which will generate an estimated £13 million for the local economy. Next year, 38 ships are scheduled to visit Belfast. The Cruise Belfast Initiative is a partnership between the Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau and Belfast Harbour with support from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
