Being famous for its antique treasures, Egypt is one of the most attractive destinations in the world. The modern Egypt also offers many tourist resorts

Egypt is a connecting-link between Africa, Asia and Europe. Egypt borders Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and the Gaza Strip and Israel to the east. The northern coast borders the Mediterranean Sea and the island of Cyprus; the eastern coast borders the Red Sea. Most of the country lies within the wide band of desert. Despite covering a small part of the country, the Nile Valley and Delta are the most important regions, being cultivable regions and supporting about 99% of the population. There are three important harbours Suez, Port Said, and Alexandria. The Port of Alexandria is principal and accepts ships and boats from around the world. The capital of Egypt Cairo is the most populous metropolitan area in Africa. Egypt is famous for its high antiquity. People raised huge temples, tombs, irrigation canals, renowned pyramids and towns. They had faith in different gods and worshiped their pharaohs as gods. They gazed stars, implemented mathematical calculations, has a special hieroglyphic written language. The richest and most ancient civilization in the world was extending here to several millennia BC.When Egypt fell under a series of foreign occupations after 343 BC, each left a permanent characteristic on the country's cultural landscape. In 639 AD Egypt was invaded by the Muslim Arabs. Egyptian identity evolved in this long period of occupation to accommodate, in principle, two new religions, Christianity and Islam; and a new language, Arabic. Following the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869, Egypt became important world transportation hub. However, the country fell into debt to European countries. As a result, Great Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882 to protect its financial interests. Constant revolting by the Egyptian people persuaded the United Kingdom to issue a declaration of Egypt's independence on February 22, 1922. The Egyptian Republic was declared on 18 June 1953, with General Muhammad Naguib as the first President of the Republic. The tourism in Egypt appeared near two thousands years ago. The ancient Greeks and Romans visited it for looking at Egyptian temples and tombs. Nowadays the voyage in Egypt looks like a time travel. The modern Egypt is a mixture of cultures being showed by theirs art, kitchen and traditions. It’s evident in Cairo. Arriving there many visitors direct their steps towards sight-seeing of Upper Egypt: Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel. For staying in coastal resorts the Sinai Peninsula is the best. The Sinai has become a tourist destination due to its spectacular natural beauty, rich coral reefs and the most beautiful sea. Popular tourist resorts include Sharm-El-Sheikh and Hurghada and Dahab. The oases of the West desert: Siwa, Dakhla, Wadi El Natrun are more popular between enterprising tourists. For feeling European history in Egypt Alexandria welcomes you. Egypt offers something special for every tourist depending of his tastes and preferences: nature and desert treks, great scuba diving and even golf, fishing and birding expeditions.
