Activities in Algeria. City Cherchell is located on the Mediterranean coast, about 130 km away from the capital. This once-powerful Phoenician-Punic trading center, and a little later and the capital of Mauretania use to have the name of Caesarea, which being translated from Latin means \"Imperial\". Well-preserved city walls and ruins of ancient buildings: the amphitheater, the circus, the lighthouse, thermal baths and temples now remind of former glory of the city. Now the main attraction of the city is a museum of antiquity, in which galleries are stored antique utensils, statues and mosaics
