In Bohinj, the mountain paradise in the heart of the Slovenian Julian Alps, the 8th International Wild Flower Festival will be held between 24 May and 8 June. This is the first of its kind event in Europe and it last year received a special recognition among the EDEN destinations. It was also ranked among the best 10 European festivals in 2014 by the British travel agency Inghams.

Bohinj awaits you in the heart of the pristine Triglav National Park. It is surrounded by numerous mountains with colourful alpine flowers. Spring is the best time to visit the Bohinj landscape. It is at this time when nature takes on the most intense colours and the mild mountain wind spreads the smell of numerous healing plants around. Feel Bohinj when it becomes the capital of unique alpine flowers between 24 May and 8 June!

Apart from the rich festival programme, numerous workshops, drawing courses, excursions and many other accompanying events will take place. The excursions are perfect for ornithologists and botanists, and during the festival, you will have the opportunity to spend time with painters, musicians and other artists whose work was inspired by alpine flowers. Because the festival also encourages thematic cuisines, numerous local food producers will also present their goods in Bohinj.

This popular two-week long event takes place in the framework of the project Wildflower Europe that draws attention to the preservation of wild-grown plants through art and the promotion of creativity. You can participate in the competition \"Let`s patchwork a meadow\" which is particularly interesting for those who are masters of manual skills, whereas younger visitors can participate in a drawing competition for primary schools.

During the festival, providers of tourist services offer interesting festival packages with accommodation and guided botanical tours in the surrounds of the attractive Bohinj lake. You can also explore this idyllic alpine surrounding by yourselves as it offers various sporting activities and cultural attractions in the heart of unspoilt nature.
