A small town on the beautiful Red Sea coast, El Gouna offers a hedonistic lifestyle and some time sunbathing in its tropical surroundings for total relaxation. Built on 10 km of beach, the town of 10,000 residents spreads across islands and lagoons. All sandy beaches and the ideal temperatures welcome visitors all year round. There are two main beaches, Zeytuna Beach located on its own island and Mangroovy Beach. A network of canals allows many houses to have their own strip of beach, even hundreds of metres inland. Most of theses canals are crossed by small stone bridges. The Kafr, the downtown area, is built in a traditional Egyptian style with inner courtyards, winding alleys and rolling domes, all surrounded by turquoise lagoons. It provides everything one would expect of a lively downtown area: shopping arcades, bazaars, an art village, cafes, discotheques, a wide selection of restaurant and bars.
The resort specializes in water sports, including scuba diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing, waterskiing, parasailing and snorkelling. It has already gained a strong reputation amongst scuba divers due to its numerous diving sites both along the coast and offshore. El Gouna’s many diving centers and easy access to the finest reefs and wrecks in the Red Sea make it a diver’s paradise. The heated pools and calm reefs are the perfect place for the beginning divers to hone their skills. Experienced divers drawn to the region to explore those same sites will find that El Gouna’s diving centers have plenty to offer them as well.
