Los Angeles Fashion

On Sept. 6, shopping centers, department stores and boutiques all around Los Angeles celebrated the fashion industry by participating in the fourth annual Fashion’s Night Out, a worldwide shopping event created by Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. Lucky for visitors to Los Angeles, fashion can be found everyday in LA…especially at the Los Angeles Fashion District featuring the latest trends in fashion from LA’s up-and-coming designers. The LA Fashion District is comprised of more than 1,000 stores located in 90 blocks in Downtown Los Angeles. Some of the highlights are Santee Alley, The European Corridor, The Intersection and the Menswear District. You\'ll find everything from tuxedos to hip jeans to lingerie, so get ready for a shopping adventure. For a more “hands-on” shopping experience, download a shopping tour podcast, complete with commentary, music and the sounds of the LA Fashion District. Since it’s hard to know where to start when you have so much to choose from, make sure to download the Fashion District map.

Space Landmarks in LA

Los Angeles and Southern California have long been known for their car culture. Now, with the arrival of the Space Shuttle Endeavor at the California Science Center on Oct. 30, space exploration is on the minds of local and visiting space-travel enthusiasts. When you visit LA, you can see a variety of historical and futuristic space exhibitions and attractions. Pasadena\'s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has played a major role in U.S. space-exploration achievements and offers free two-hour tours of its Pasadena facility. Kidspace Children\'s Museum has more than two-dozen interactive exhibits designed for children from ages 1 to 10. At the Museum’s Gavin Physics Forest, kids can learn first-hand about what it takes to get an object into space by creating mini-bottle rockets and study gravitational acceleration with the Ball Bounce exhibit. Also, be sure to visit the Griffith Observatory, which reopened in 2007 after a four-year, $93 million renovation. The 9,000-pound Zeiss Telescope can accommodate as many as 600 viewings per night, giving visitors an unmatched view of the moon and stars on a clear Los Angeles night.

Celebrate the Holiday Season in Los Angeles

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and Los Angeles is a perfect place to celebrate. Join celebrities and local bands as they parade along Hollywood Boulevard during the Hollywood Christmas Parade taking place Thanksgiving Weekend. The Skirball Cultural Center is the site of the annual Hanukkah Family Festival where visitors of all faiths can learn more about the traditions that make up Hanukkah. Olvera Street, the site where the City of Los Angeles was founded, is the annual site of the Las Posadas procession, which reenacts the journey of Mary and Joseph as they searched for shelter in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve. And be sure to celebrate Grinchmas with everyone’s favorite Grinch when Whoville comes to Universal Studios Hollywood.
