Things To Do

AUTUMN IN

THE HILLS

LIVE MUSIC

One of the many things to love about Beverly Hills? The fact that balmy temperatures linger into autumn. That means that outdoor parties are still an option, and gourmet purveyors like The Beverly Hills Cheese Store and Bouchon Bakery have all the ingredients for a perfect outdoor gathering. Cooks will find the freshest seasonal produce including broccoli, tomatoes and squash at the Beverly Hills Farmer’s Market each Sunday (9 am – 12pm). Autumn is also the time to start thinking about an update at home. Retailers Crate & Barrel and Scandia Home roll out their latest collections in the fall with furnishings and accessories that give new life to any room in the house. And the fashion forward freshen up their wardrobe by shopping the winter collections at Prada and Hermès and men’s store, Streets.

There really is nothing to compare to a live musical performance – and Beverly Hills affords opportunities to hear from talented musicians every night of the week. In addition to a delicious food and bar menu, Parq Bar at Montage Beverly Hills features a different musical performance each evening from 8 pm – 12 am. The talented local and regional artists represent various formats including jazz, R&B and acoustical guitar. At The Blvd in the Beverly Wilshire hotel, The Dana Bronson Band performs each Thursday evening, the David Sparkman Jazz Band covers Friday and Saturday evenings and guitarist Mark Castrillon eases his audience into the new week each Sunday night. Jazz musician Matt Haze has recently worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, JC Chasez and Matthew Morrison. Catch this up-and-coming talent, poolside at Avalon Beverly Hills (Wednesdays, 7:30 – 9:30 pm).

COCKTAILS ON THE ROOF

Summer may officially be winding down, but consistently hot temperatures prevail, making a rooftop cocktail overlooking the city just too good to pass up. The sleek rooftop retreat at Thompson Beverly Hills known as ABH allows for poolside lounging as guests imbibe in any number of colorful cocktails. The rooftop at Montage Beverly Hills distinguishes itself as the highest rooftop pool and bar space in Beverly Hills. Not surprisingly, The Conservatory Grill on Montage’s rooftop serves up spectacular views of the city and surrounding hillside with each sparkling glass of wine. The Sunset on the Roof at Peninsula Beverly Hills comes two ways – as a breathtaking landscape in the western skies and as a Peninsula Roof Garden cocktail made with Absolut Mandarin, blood orange purée. What better way is there to relax, unwind and take in the beauty of your surroundings?
