Piccolo Festival 2012
The Festival involves thirteen municipalities of Friuli Venezia Giulia and proposes operas, concerts, traditional music, theatre shows and films in unusual and charming locations like villas, cloisters and castles. The Festival’s characteristic element is its training project for opera singers and its every year production of a chamber opera.

Topolò Station
A crossroads of meetings, experiments, cultural exchanges, a small but big workshop of experimental art: this is Topolò Station - Postaja Topolove. In the municipality of Grimacco, in one of the enchanting Natisone Valleys, an ancient Slovenian dialect is spoken, the village has no bars or shops and only 30 inhabitants, but today here there is an airport for arrivals only, a post office for states of conscience, five embassies, a hostel for neglected sounds, remains of spas and of glorious synagogues, a universal picture gallery, a waiting room for meeting travelling poets and writers. All this is free and the times are “at dusk”, “after sunset”, “in the afternoon”, “when it is dark”, “until dawn”.

Festival of Sauris Ham
Sauris, a village located in the Carnic Alps, celebrates one of its finest delicacies: the raw ham smoked with beech wood and spiced with juniper and herbs and the sweet raw ham. In addition to these excellent products, at the stands you can taste smoked cold cuts, beer, speck, gnocchi, cakes and many other typical local products. All this will be enlivened by travelling music, shows and a beautiful exhibition market of local handicraft, where you will see craftsmen at work as they make objects of everyday use.

Music and Live - Great concerts in Friuli Venezia Giulia

One of these big events is Guča sul Carso, the Festival of Balkan music that features one of the most thrilling live bands of the world: Gogol Bordello. Guided visits to the crown of the Vajont dam
The walk along the crown of the Vajont Dam and the Bosco Vecchio path, in the wonderful setting of the Friulian Dolomites, starts from the Visitor Centre of Erto e Casso. The visit describes in a detailed and scientific way the whole event from the design of the “grande Vajont” hydroelectric basin to the trial following the tragedy of 1963. Moreover, it will also be dealt with the man-environment relationship and with the traditions, usages and customs of the inhabitants of Erto e Casso and of the whole valley until that fateful moment.

Fish festival in Marano
This traditional fish festival is held in the wonderful setting of Marano Lagunare, an ancient fishermen’s village of Venetian origin. It will be an excellent opportunity to taste seafood delicacies, accompanied by beautiful music and to visit, free of charge, the Archaeological Museum of the Lagoon in the Centro Civico to discover all the secrets of the charming lagoon environment.

Palio of San Donato
Five boroughs, 12 associations and groups involved, 3 days of celebrations, thousands of visitors. These are the numbers of the 13th Palio of San Donato, in Cividale del Friuli, whose protagonists will be engaged in foot race and in archery and crossbow competitions. An increasingly refined event from a historical and philological point of view, where a careful historical reconstruction of the settings, enlivened by shows of drums, jugglers, fire eaters, minstrels and musicians, create a charming atmosphere.

8th Open Mountain Huts
Tastes, sounds, movements of other times and an amazing environment - the Bartolo Valley in Tarvisio - are the ingredients of the eighth Open Mountain Huts. Many events will enrich the tasting of typical products and of food and wine specialities: the “passeggiata rio argento” nature walk, the 2nd International woodsman’s pentathlon tournament and then for men’s teams, tug of war, beer competition, log throwing, whereas for women’s teams, tug of war, radler competition and egg throwing. Without forgetting children who can take part in the funny donkey rides on the fields of the Bartolo Valley.

3rd Vegetarian Festival
Gorizia, a cross-border city with a Niçoise charm, hosts the third Vegetarian Festival, one of the most important food and wine events in Italy. A moment of meeting and debate on the essential themes of the organic-vegetarian choice: ethics, environment, health. Several the meetings on schedule with experts, doctors, writers and supporters of the vegetarian culture who describe and analyse in detail the increasingly widespread “veg” lifestyle.

SUP race 2012
The North East Kitesurf Association organizes for the second year in a row in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s wonderful seaside resort, the funny SUP Race (standing up padding), a water sport that is a recent revelation, but which is much older than one would think. The event is funny and thrilling thanks to the inexhaustible speaker and to the presence of many athletes and enthusiasts coming from Italy and from abroad. The race takes place opposite the golden beach of Lignano: from the expanse of water opposite Piazzale Marcello d’Olivo, to the rounding of the mark in Sabbiadoro, opposite the Beach Arena, then back, and finish at the shore of start.
