Trieste, 15th June 2012 – Also this year holidays in Friuli Venezia Giulia are characterized by safety and health. After the positive number of presences had last weekend, Lignano Sabbiadoro and Grado are ready to welcome visitors for their long-awaited holidays, with the approval of weather forecast that announces the actual arrival of summer.

This year there will be an even richer calendar of activities, events and entertainment dedicated to families and youths as well, so as to enliven holidays and to provide holidaymakers with an unforgettable memory of Italy and of Friuli Venezia Giulia in particular. Moreover, Friuli Venezia Giulia‟s sea waters have just been awarded gold medal by the Italian Ministry of Health. “We have worked and are still working on various levels for a „no-problem holiday‟ for all Italian and foreign guests”, says Edi Sommariva, general director of TurismoFVG. “I would like to point out that, contrarily to the fears expressed by someone, on our beaches the earth does not shake and has never shaken, this fact contributing to keep the level of safety that characterizes our shores high”, concludes Mr. Sommariva.

“There is no evidence that Friuli Venezia Giulia‟s coast is a seismic area”, confirms Dario Slejko, seismologist at OGS, the Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics* based in Trieste, who said that “the probability of a seismic event on Friuli Venezia Giulia‟s coasts is almost null, as stated both by earthquake catalogues, where there is no episode affecting the coastal strip in the last 1000 years, and by the maps of danger processed by the various institutes, among which OGS as well, which certify that these areas are affected by minimum seismicity”, concluded Mr. Slejko.

You have no excuse not to come: book your holiday in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Your experience starts here.

*OGS – the Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics is a national public research body based in Sgonico (Trieste) that originates from the Astronomy and Sailing School established in 1753 by the Jesuits according to the wish of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria to meet traffic development requirements after Trieste was declared a free port in 1719.
