Not only is West Hollywood (known locally as “WeHo”) the home of LA PRIDE, it’s also the heart of LA’s gay and lesbian community, where fully 50 percent of the resident population identify as gay or lesbian. The lively “Boys Town” along Santa Monica Boulevard is the site of the PRIDE Parade route, and also where half a million costumed revelers gather for the annual Halloween Costume Carnaval. The rest of the year, it\'s busy day and night with restaurants, bars and dance clubs. If you’re looking for a place with all three of these things wrapped into one lively package, head to The Abbey, dubbed by MTV “The Best Gay Bar in the World.” What began in 1991 as a simple coffeehouse has grown into one of the most popular hotspots in the country, known for its martinis, mojitos and a staff that’s as eye catching as the decor.
