Select the country and object's type Hualapai Tourism to Host “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” Barbeque on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Route 66 Park in Peach Springs, AZ

PEACH SPRINGS, AZ (April 17, 2012) On Saturday, May 5th, Hualapai Tourism will host an open-pit barbeque at Route 66 Park for the “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” put on by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona. Route 66 Park is located on the “Mother Road” directly across from the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs, AZ - the Hualapai Nation’s capital. From 10:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. there will be a 50\'s DJ and live Native American performances. The meal will feature barbeque beef and a variety of side dishes. The money raised during the event goes to fund projects for the Route 66 Park in Peach Springs.

On Friday, May 4th from 4:00 PM. to 6:00 P.M. and Saturday, May 5th from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. the Hualapai Cultural Center will be having an Open House where visitors can learn about the history of Peach Springs and discover the Hualapai Tribe’s culture and traditions. The Cultural Center will be displaying arts and crafts created by the local Hualapai children. Hualapai Tourism will award 15% off coupons for the Diamond Creek Restaurant in the Hualapai Lodge – open for normal business hours throughout the weekend’s activities – to those that attend the event.

The barbeque is aligned with the “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” but participation for that event is not required to purchase a meal. All are welcome to enjoy the food and festivities. For more information, guests can call Hualapai Tourism at 888-868-9378 or 928-769-2636.

About the “Annual Route 66 Fun Run”:

The “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” is a three-day driving event that begins in Seligman, AZ on May 4th and travels 140 miles to Topock, AZ. The event is open to all street legal vehicles. Participants can register for the “Annual Route 66 Fun Run” at the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona’s website, www.azrt66.com.
