MCLEAN, Va. (February 16, 2012) – DoubleTree by Hilton today announced an online and social media campaign that connects the travel industry’s most prominent “tree” brand with one of the most-talked-about movies of this spring. Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s animated adventure Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax arrives in theaters March 2 and DoubleTree by Hilton is celebrating the film with two unique travel sweepstakes inspired by eco-travel from now through April 29, 2012. No purchase is necessary.

“DoubleTree by Hilton believes that small actions can collectively make a world of difference, both in our hotels and the environment. During the past decade, our hotel teams around the world have worked with outstanding education partners to teach more than five million children about the importance of the environment in everyday life. This led to the planting of more than 350,000 trees in a variety of reforestation projects,” said John Greenleaf, vice president, global brand marketing for DoubleTree by Hilton. “We are honored to support the outstanding production partners that are bringing Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax to theatres across North America, by celebrating with two unique sweepstakes programs that will bring ‘tree-mendous’ prizes to some very lucky winners.”

The DoubleTree by Hilton Eco-Trip Sweepstakes available to Hilton HHonors members at www.doubletree.com/thelorax features a grand prize trip for four (airfare and accommodations included) to a DoubleTree by Hilton destination in Costa Rica. Once entered, every qualifying stay at a DoubleTree by Hilton through April 29, 2012, will earn an additional entry for another chance to win.

Through the hotel brand’s popular social media community, the DoubleTree by Hilton Tip Tree Sweepstakes, available on www.facebook.com/doubletree, encourages people to share a small eco-tip that can make a positive difference on the environment. The Tip Tree Sweepstakes includes weekly movie and tree-planting prize packs with a grand prize of a 2-night vacation including hotel accommodations, transportation and airfare for two to any U.S. and Canadian DoubleTree by Hilton hotel destination.

From the creators of Despicable Me and the imagination of Dr. Seuss comes the much anticipated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, a 3D-CG adaptation of the classic tale of a forest guardian who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for a real Truffula Tree, the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To get it he must find the story of the Lorax, the acerbic yet charming character who fights to protect his world. www.theloraxmovie.com

Both sweepstakes are open only to legal residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec), who are of legal age of majority in their place of residence (at least 18 years old). Other terms and conditions may apply.
