Tourism Australia has re-launched its award-winning global campaign website, www.nothinglikeaustralia.com with additional content and new functionality, helping travellers to better research and plan an Australian holiday.

Tourism Australia Managing Director Andrew McEvoy said the improved website – based on an interactive online map of Australia - would enable international and domestic visitors to get more out of their Australian travelling experience.

“The enhanced website is packed with great new content, providing users with ideas and tips to really get the most out of their Australian holiday, including information on where to stay, how to get around, what’s on, things to do and even suggestions on trips and excursions to take,” Mr McEvoy said.

“There’s links to great video content from our YouTube channel and even access to TripAdvisor reviews, so you can run the rule over some of your itinerary ideas before deciding whether to incorporate them into your final trip.”

Amongst the enhancements is a new ‘in the area’ button, which allows users to discover local tourism products and attractions. Images as well as links to operator websites are also included. The site also features direct links to holiday deals featured on Tourism Australia’s consumer website, www.australia.com.

Navigation around the enhanced site has been made simpler, with a predictive search box and easy-to-follow text to guide users around the map and its contents.

The website attracts more than 300,000 unique visitors each month and has formed a key part of Tourism Australia’s global campaign There’s nothing like Australia since its launch in May 2010.

Australians were invited to share their personal stories of where they live and holiday in Australia, to show the world why they should visit. Nearly 30,000 stories and images were uploaded to www.nothinglikeaustralia.com - making it one of Australia's most successful consumer-generated promotions ever.

The website received industry recognition at this year’s Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards, where it won the campaign website category. It also picked up the Best Tourism and Travel Site award at the 2011 Australian Interactive Media Industry Awards (AIMIA).

Recognising the increasing importance of mobile technology amongst travellers, Tourism Australia has also developed a mobile version of the full website, allowing travellers already in Australia and ‘on the go’ to make the most out of their trip.

Available from this week, the mobile site allows users to access everything on the Nothing like Australia website whilst on the move, using Smartphone devices.

The new mobile site complements the free There’s nothing like Australia Smartphone app, which highlights the top 3,500 Australian tourism experiences and was exclusively road-tested by Tourism Australia’s 1.5m Facebook fans in April. More than 20,000 downloads have already been made by iPhone and Android Smartphone users.
