Australia wins awards in major US travel publication
US consumer travel publication Travel + Leisure, which has more than 4.8 million readers, has published its 2011 World’s Best Survey with Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef recognised in four categories. Sydney was voted the top city in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region and also ranked eighth on the magazine’s list of overall top cities. The Great Barrier Reef was voted the Top Island Destination in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific region and also ranked fifth on the list of best islands overall. Winners will be featured in the August edition of the magazine on stands in the US from Friday 22 July. The first ever World’s Best Awards 2011 iPad edition is now available via www.travelandleisure.com/ipad.
