Auto Bleue – self-service 100% electric vehicles!

Nice Côte d'Azur is the first public authority in France to organize a vehicle sharing system on a large scale using only electric cars. Operational since April 2011, 210 vehicles are divided among 70 stations. 24/24 et 7/7, an Auto Bleue is ready for you near your home. To get from place to place in Nice or for a peaceful, CO²-free trip around town, take the wheel of a 100 % eco-friendly Peugeot Ion or Citroën Berlingo and take advantage of the GPS system as well! Sunday opening for the shops in Nice on Sundays

The large stores and small boutiques in Nice town centre will be open every Sunday during the summer season and some of them will continue to open on Sundays all year. In ‘Vieux-Nice’, by the port, in the pedestrian precinct or on the main thoroughfare and the roads at right-angles to it, there is a vast choice. On your marks... get set... Shopping! (+)

Nice, land of events

• An eagerly awaited line-up at the NIce Jazz Festival, from 8 to 12 July 2011

Each year, the Nice Jazz Festival attracts 40.000 festival goers. Once again this year, in the very heart of Nice, in the Albert 1er Gardens, it presents an exceptional programme to the public - Michel Legrand, Didier Lockwood, John Mc Laughlin, Morcheeba, Keziah Jones, Ahmad Jamal and many others. The best French jazz musicians will pay tribute to the trumpeter Miles Davis by reinterpreting the work “Kind of Blue”, brought out 50 years ago and still the best-selling jazz album in the world. • Prom’ Party! Music in the forefront!On the Promenade des Anglais, traffic-free for the event, musical groups will move around like a merry-go-round. New and world music, jazz, Latin American, light and accordion music will rub shoulders on six podiums each evening. Accompanying these concerts on 14 July and 15 August, fireworks will be let off from the Baie des Anges at 10pm. All these concerts are free, to enjoy freely!

• Riviera Pétanque Show, from 23 to 25 July 2011

This year, Europétanque de Nice, now one of the major Pétanque competitions, is celebrating its tenth year. For this occasion, Boulisme magazine is joining in the event to set up the Riviera Pétanque show. 2,000 players will take part in three days of competitions which will take place in Place Masséna, in the Albert 1er Gardens and on the Promenade des Anglais. 65 courts, 72 hours of competition, 12 countries represented ... this event is now part of Nice’s heritage, in the same way as the Paris-Nice cycling event.
