Burkina Faso is a state in West Africa, to the south of the Sahara desert. It has borders with Mali to the north, Niger - to the east, Benin - to the south-east, Togo and Ghana - to the south, and Côte d'Ivoire - to the south-west. The capital - Ouagadougou - was founded in the 15 th century. Ouagadougou is one of a few country's transport junctions, as well as important agricultural trading center.

First state formations appeared on the territory of modern Burkina Faso in the early medieval period (from 11 to 13-14 centuries). Country’s population is 13 229 thousand people. Ethnic composition of the population is remarkably variegated: there are about 100 ethnic groups. The official language of the country is French, but Moré language is also widely used.
Up to 50% of the population professes Islam, indigenous cults - 40%, Roman Catholicism - 10%.
