Honolulu, HI…Family travel just got more affordable with The Kahala’s Family Affair vacation program for 2013. The Kahala Hotel & Resort’s new value-added spring special for families includes a kids eat free bonus when you book a minimum four night stay in a variety of room categories. Reservations may be made through June 26, 2013 for dates of stay from March 1 through June 30, 2013. Book online at www.kahalaresort.com, or call toll free (800) 367-2525, or contact your travel agent.

Kahala’s Family Affair vacation program may not be combined with any other promotions and is based upon availability at time of booking for dates of stays March 1 through June 30, 2013. Family Affair programs at The Kahala include daily breakfast buffet at Plumeria Beach House for two adults and up to two children (12 and under). Children 12 and under are also treated to free meals from a special children’s menu at the award-winning Plumeria Beach House restaurant which overlooks the bay and its beautiful sandy beaches. (This offer does not apply to holiday or seafood buffets, room service, or the children of non-guests, and is limited to one entrée per child.)

The Kahala Hotel & Resort is a favorite destination for family travel and was recently named as one of Top 20 Favorite Family Resorts by Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Reports and one of the Top Family Hotels in the U.S.A. (No. 1 in Hawaii) by Travel + Leisure. Family time is something that you just can’t get enough of—it’s precious and priceless.

The Kahala’s Suite Chic 30% Off special has included the Family Affair Special with a Kids Eat Free bonus when you book a suite at 30% off daily rates for dates of stay February 1 through June 30, 2013. This family incentive for spring and early summer 2013 travel won’t last long, so book early to take advantage of great rates and free meals for kids.

The Kahala’s collection of luxury Signature Suites are perfect for families with adjoining rooms and an upgraded Signature Suite amenity program that includes a variety of special perquisites, from morning coffee and newspaper delivery to daily use of a beach cabana, nightly VIP turndown service, daily afternoon cocktail service with light snacks, preferential seating in the hotel’s restaurants, and a round-trip airport transfer in an Executive Sedan. Other benefits in the Signature Suite amenity program include personalized stationery package, unpacking/packing services, complimentary pressing service of one item on arrival, and full complimentary use of the Business Center during your stay. Each of these Signature Suites is unique and features designer décor and furnishings. The Kahala Beach Suite includes an adjoining outdoor entertainment lanai with its own bar-b-cue grill where you can cook a burger or two and cater an outdoor family picnic.

Roomy and oversized guest quarters make it easy to accommodate kids and extra suitcases. Other special room features include full tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers (so more than one person can be bathing simultaneously) and dual vanities. Cribs and roll-away beds are also available.

Upon arrival, parents are greeted with a traditional seed lei, but the children each receive a stuffed toy sea creature to keep them company, or a giant cookie. The resort fronts a beautiful bay that is surrounded by an offshore reef that creates a calm and peaceful ocean experience. This makes it safe and swimming- friendly for smaller children and perfect for snorkeling, canoe riding or learning how to stand up paddle board, three of Hawaii’s most popular water sports. Gently lapping waves are safer for elderly swimmers, too, as they won’t knock you off your feet. The secluded beach is delightfully un-crowded, day or night. It also offers a beautiful pristine shore walk, which is about a mile long, to explore with the kids. (For serious surfers, some of Hawaii’s famous surf sites, such as Cromwell’s, are close by.)

On property, the kids and adults alike will be fascinated with The Kahala’s family of six Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins who frolic and play all day in the lagoon near the pool and hot tub. Dolphin Quest offers experiential, hands-on programs for kids of all ages (with and without parental attendance.) Participants learn about ocean safety, ecology, and marine conservation efforts while getting nose to nose with a new dolphin friend. It’s an unforgettable bonding experience with an amazing marine mammal while dolphin trainers expertly guide the children.

The kids can enjoy other adventures and field trips by enrolling in The Kahala’s Keiki Club’s half and full day programs. While the parents take a complimentary shuttle for some shopping or head out for a day of golf on any number of challenging O’ahu courses, the kids (5-12) are well entertained with an enriching activity and educational program that includes beach excursions, snorkeling, bamboo pole fishing, and crabbing, and other activities. Other hands-on cultural activities help them learn about Hawaii’s indigenous people and their traditions through dance, story telling, and arts and crafts while they make new friends in the program. Evening or daytime babysitting services for babies to teens are also easily arranged through the concierge.

Other activities to be enjoyed include “mommy and me” manicures and pedicures in the Kahala Spa, or a tutu (grandparent) tea party in The Veranda. The Kahala Spa has won many, many awards over the years and was recently named as one of the 30 Hot Spas in North America by SpaFinder Wellness. Signature treatments include the Lovely Hula Hands massage, a two-therapist experience that is out of this world. The CHI Fitness Center has a host of classes, from conventional and Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga to Pilates for teens and adults. Access to the CHI Fitness Center with its large array of state of the art fitness equipment is permitted 24 hours a day with room key, so the gym is ready when you are, day or night. Personal trainers are also available.

There’s outrigger canoe rides for the whole family, stand up paddle boarding lessons, bone fishing expeditions for the adventurous, and other beach activities for all day fun in the sun. Beach cabanas and covered lounges are also available.

Life on a Kahala vacation can be as fun-filled and adventurous, or as calm as you like. Many a new dad with a babe in arms has taken a nap in the hammock strung between the palm trees, or played a game of catch the Frisbee on the lawn or the beachfront.

Dining options for families are offered in the resort’s dining rooms and there is even an option to cater a family beach cook-out under the stars with s’mores. Casual poolside dining is available throughout the day from the poolside snack bar where you can find the amazing Kahala Burger topped with cheddar and all the condiments. Kid-friendly buffets (and prices to match) take the pain out of waiting for table service, especially with the young and the restless. The outdoor open-air Plumeria Beach House has an adjacent lawn where the kids can run around under your watchful eyes when they’ve finished their meals, while you continue to enjoy another cocktail as the sun sets.

In the Veranda Lounge, many a dad has taught his daughter to dance to the sounds of David Swanson’s smooth contemporary jazz piano. Kids are welcomed and revered by the staff. The Kahala is family friendly and even has 24-hour in- room dining service in case someone gets a case of the “hungries” after the restaurants have called it a night.

The Kahala Hotel & Resort is only 20 minutes by car from Honolulu’s major international airport, yet boasts a private and secluded residential address in one of Hawaii’s most sought after neighborhoods. Situated at the end of the road and bordered by the ocean and a private country club golf course, there’s no noisy traffic or congestion getting in and out of The Kahala to worry about, yet it’s only ten minutes from urban Waikiki with all its shopping, dining, and family-friendly recreational activities such as the Waikiki Aquarium, the Honolulu Zoo, and movies on the beach.

Access to other major kid-friendly attractions such as Sea Life Park, Bishop Museum, Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, and the Polynesian Culture Center for day trips is easily available through the rental car agency on property, or making tour reservations through the hotel’s Play Paradise services. The Kahala can be your oasis in a sea of recreational opportunities, from zip lining to swimming with sharks! O’ahu is also home to a host of enriching arts and cultural institutions, including Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center, Honolulu Museum of Art, I’olani Palace, Mission Houses Museum, Queen Emma Summer Palace, and Hawaii State Art Museum. (Be sure to check their activity calendars and websites for free entry days as well and special children’s programming offered throughout the year.)

The Kahala has it all…great location, fun and entertaining programs for kids, luxurious accommodations, and exceptional service. And now Kahala’s Family Affair vacation program adds value to your experience. Call now to reserve your next family gathering, call (800) 367-2525 or book online at www.kahalaresort.com.
