Select the country and object's type Las Cruces Country Music Festival Coming to Downtown Las Cruces

Las Cruces will be hosting the first annual Las Cruces Country Music Festival on Main Street Downtown May 17-19, 2013. The festival, hosted by the Las Cruces Convention & Visitors Bureau and produced by Helping Hands Event Planning, will feature country music legends Little Texas, Darryl Worley, a variety of country music\'s hottest up and coming artists including Craig Campbell and Greg Betts.

The festival will also include a songwriter\'s workshop conducted by song-writing superstar Tommy Lee James, an artist meet and greet, an unplugged country brunch, and western wear fashion show.

\"We are excited to be bringing this new event to Las Cruces,\" said Las Cruces Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Phil San Filippo. \"It will be a great opportunity to showcase our dynamic city while offering country music fans a wonderful event. Country Music is a big part of Southwestern culture and we believe we will attract visitors from many different areas. Most importantly, the Las Cruces Country Music Festival will be a big economic boost to the local economy.\"

Friday night\'s headliner Little Texas climbed to the top of the country music charts in the 90\'s with hits like \"Some Guys Have All the Love\",\" God Bless Texas\", \"You and Forever and Me\", \"What Might Have Been\", \"Amy\'s Back in Austin\", \"Life Goes On\", and their number one hit \"My Love.\" Overall, the band has six top 10 hits, scored platinum status with the album Kick a Little, and double-platinum status with Big Time.

Co-headlining Saturday night is singer and songwriter Darryl Worley. Worley has produced nearly 20 hit singles, including three #1s, as well as chart-topping albums and sales in the millions. His hits include \"I Miss My Friend,\" \"Awful, Beautiful Life\" and \"Have You Forgotten.\" He has released six full albums during his 12-year career, and over nine of his singles have hit the Country Music Top 40.

Closing Saturday night\'s concert is rising country music star Craig Campbell. Hailing from rural Lyons, Georgia, Campbell has been referred to as \"one of the most promising neo-traditionalist country music artists today.\" Known for his sharp-dressed look, Campbell debuted in 2011 with the album Outta my Head and has charted the top 20 of Hot Country Songs with his single \"Family Man.\" Some of his other hits include \"Fish,\" \"When I Get It,\" and \"Outta My Head.\"

Also performing during the festival will be up-and-comer Greg Bates. Bates, a singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Nashville, has already released a hit self-titled album at age 25. Influenced by traditional \'90s artists like Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, and Alan Jackson, he is noted for his ability to connect with an audience in just a few chords. Some of his top singles include: \"Did it for the Girl\" and \"Fill in the Blank.\"

In addition to a line-up of great country music acts, the festival will include a song writer\'s workshop provided by song-writing master Tommy Lee James who had six number one country songs to his credit including: \"And Still\" by Reba McEntire, \"A Man This Lonely\" by Brooks and Dunn\", \"If You See Him/If You See Her\" by Brooks and Dunn/Reba, \"Wrong Again\" from Martina McBride, \"What I Really Meant To Say\" by Cyndi Thomson and \"She\'s My Kind Of Rain\" from Tim McGraw.\" A talented multi-genre writer, James has had other hits with and songs recorded by diverse artist such as Taylor Swift, Pussycat Dolls, Rascal Flatts, Delta Goodrem, Orianthi, Gary Allan, Trisha Yearwood, 98 Degrees, Lonestar, Emerson Drive, Jo Dee Messina, Easton Crobin, Brian McFadden, Jamelia, Marie Serneholdt, Days Difference, Joe Walsh and One Direction.

There will also be an artist meet and greet Saturday morning at the Farmers Market from 10 am - 12:30 pm featuring many of the festivals artists.

The festival will conclude with Unplugged at the Farm and Ranch, featuring a cowboy brunch, an unplugged concert and a western fashion show on the courtyard of the NM Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

A weekend pass for the event, which includes access to all concerts, the song-writers workshop and Unplugged at the Farm & Ranch is $50 per person before May 15th. Day passes are $20 per person each day. After May 15th, the cost of the weekend pass will be $60 per person and the day pass will be $25 per person.

May 17: 4:30 - 6:00 pmVIP reception

and sell their merchandise).

1:30 - 3:00 pm Songwriters workshop - Rio Grande Theater - A unique opportunity

for aspiring songwriters to hear firsthand how to craft a hit song. Anchored by

Tommy Lee James

6:00 - 10:00 PM Second concert

May 19: 10:30 - 12:30 - Country bruch - This event will be held at the New Mexico Farm &

Ranch Heritage Museum. It will feature a brunch, an acoustic set by one of the

artists, and a western wear fashion show.
