Winter lake cruises to view eagles are popular throughout the Ozarks and River Valley.

Eagle

In November, Lake Dardanelle State Park in Russellville offers free cruises to see our national symbol as well as many other spectacular birds like white pelicans, ducks, and snow geese. Dates for the tours are Nov. 1, 3, 7, 9, 11, 21, 24, 25, and 29.

Make sure you dress for the weather and remember that temperatures and winds tend to be more severe on the lake. You need to make reservations by calling 479-967-5516. The boat will board about 15 minutes before the tour from the boat dock near the Fishing Tournament Weigh-In Facility. Also, in case of inclement weather or wind advisories, call one hour before tour time for possible cancellations.

In Rogers, Eagle Cruises are offered by Hobbs State Park Conservation Area in Rogers on Nov. 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, and 28. Join an interpretive guide to look for eagles while touring the Van Winkle arm of Beaver Lake. Pre-registration and payment is required by calling 479-789-5000, or you can buy tickets at the visitor center front desk. Tours depart from Rocky Branch Marina. Dress for the weather. Life jackets are provided and must be worn at all times. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and free for ages under 6.

Cruises are usually offered in December and January as well. Visit the calendar of events on Arkansas.com for more information.
