October Features Fun, Family-Friendly Festivals in the Arkansas Delta

October is a great month to get out and enjoy festivals and events in the Arkansas Delta.

Brinkley celebrates autumn with the 29th annual Brinkley Fall Fest on Oct. 5-6. Friday night’s activities include mini tractor pulls and dinner at Greenlee Park. On Saturday, head to the town\'s downtown at 10 a.m. for a day of games, music, food and fun for all ages. Lake Poinsett State Park in Harrisburg offers a day of family fun during the park’s annual Fall Celebration on Oct. 6. Fall Fest in Pine Bluff on Oct. 6 marks the closing of the community’s farmer market. The event also features a sweet potato pie contest. Lepanto is the site for the 82nd annual Terrapin Derby Festival on Saturday, Oct. 6. The smell of “Q” will fill the air during the 2012 Downtown Jonesboro BBQ Festival on Oct. 6 in Jonesboro. The 36th annual Arkansas Rice Festival is slated for Oct. 12-13 in Weiner. The festival promotes Arkansas’s rice industry, the state’s top agricultural export, and celebrates the harvest season. Experience the history of Arkansas Post during the 18th annual Ghosts of the Past on Oct. 20 at Arkansas Post National Memorial in Gillett.
