This is the year of a rare opportunity that only comes around biennially and it’s always eagerly awaited. It’s the Little Rock Air Force Base Open House and Air Show, Sept. 8 and 9. One of the few times the public is allowed on base, the event attracts over 200,000. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. The theme for this year is 2012 Heritage and Heroes. New this year is the ability to reserve front-row seating. Single day seats cost $20 in advance, $30 the day of the show. Proceeds go to a fund that provides morale and welfare activities for the airmen and their families stationed at the base. Also available is the Four Acres of Shade zone which has 500 seats to escape the heat, a special area just for kids, continuous concerts, various kinds of booths, and military dog demonstrations.
