Lecture Series: Clyde Tingley\'s New Deal for New Mexico

July 12, 7 p.m.

Lucinda Lucero Sachs, a New Mexico writer and literary aficionada, will present a lecture on her forthcoming book, Clyde Tingley\'s New Deal for New Mexico, 1935-1938, soon to be published by Sunstone Press. Sachs will discuss Tingley\'s years as Governor of New Mexico during the Great Depression, his efforts to create jobs and opportunities for New Mexicans during those difficult years, his friendship with Franklin D. Roosevelt, his partnership with his wife, Carrie Wooster Tingley, and more. This presentation is sponsored by the New Mexico Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Admission is a suggested donation of $2.

Ice Cream Sunday

July 15, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This very popular event features homemade ice cream, demonstrations, living history and the annual Ice Cream Sandwich Eating Contest, which begins at 2 p.m., for various age groups. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and $2 for children ages 5 to 17.
