Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) proudly announced that Guam was presented with three awards at the recent 25th Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA2012) held in Seoul, South Korea. Of the over 3,000 exhibitors at KOTFA2012, GVB was presented with the prestigious “Best Tourism Publicity Award” and “Best Folklore Cultural Dance Award” while Pleasure Island Guam was awarded the coveted “Best Booth Design Award.”
KOTFA is the largest and only international fair in Korea recognized and supported by the World Trade Organization, The Ministry of Culture & Tourism in Korea, Seoul Metropolitan Government and Korea National Tourism Organization. KOTFA2012 drew over 3,000 exhibitors and gave them exposure and access to over 100,000 travel industry professionals, media and consumers in attendance over the course of 4 days.
Second only to Japan in visitor arrivals to Guam, Korea has long been a key market in Guam tourism and GVB has participated in KOTFA since its inception in 1986. The Bureau strives to work collaboratively with its local partners and members to promote Guam in Korea through familiarization tours, travel trade shows, advertising and joint promotions.
“Korea is very important to Guam being our number two market. We must continue to work closely with our travel partners in Korea to keep Guam a top choice for travel and we must also continue to work with our Guam partners, especially the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association, to ensure rooms are available when demand is elevated,” said GVB General Manager Joann Camacho.
GVB and representatives from the Guam International Airport Authority also met with the Korean-Guam Tourism Council and several airlines in Seoul, including Korean Air, Jin Air, and Jeju Air. Jeju Air has confirmed regular daily direct flight service from Seoul to Guam in the latter part of 2012, adding much-needed seat capacity to the growing Korean market.
