Select the country and object's type New art Exhibit Features Colorful Collages

A new art exhibit at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum blends paintings of Mexican people with a variety of clipped images of objects such as butterflies, birds and flowers.

The exhibit, \"Barbara Hinnenkamp: Saints of the Day,\" features 11 large, colorful mixed media collages that feature the Mexican people and their connection to nature and the cycles of the earth. Hinnenkamp, an artist from Cochiti Lake in northern New Mexico, uses discarded calendars and magazines to create her collages.

An opening reception for the exhibit is planned for Thursday, April 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit will be in the museum\'s Arts Corridor through Aug. 4. Refreshments will be available at the free reception.

\"As a young adult, I learned about rural Mexican life and culture through marriage,\" Hinnenkamp said. \"There, I observed the people engaged with the earth and its cycles, and their expression of patience and respect for the environment never left me.\"
