TIME TO TEE OFF IN MIAMI: The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is teeing off the first ever Miami Golf Month, April 1-30, 2012. The program is in full swing offering experienced golfers and novices the opportunity to hit the greens at several of Miami’s top notch golf courses. Program highlights include golf discounts and hotel packages together with a round of golf. With more than 30 golf courses in Miami, there is a lot to look forward to. A few of the participating courses include The Biltmore Golf Club, Doral Golf Resort & Spa, Country Club of Miami and Miami Beach Golf Club. THIRD ANNUAL MIAMI MUSEUM MONTH: With record-breaking numbers of museums participating in this year’s Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau Museum Month, May will highlight the arts and culture scene like never before. PRESTIGIOUS POLO CUP RETURNS: The Polo Life, LLC has brought back the eighth annual Maserati Miami Beach Polo World Cup, the world’s largest Beach Polo competition, taking place April 26-29 between 20th and 22nd Streets on the sands of South Beach, Miami. Maserati, the award-winning automotive manufacturer of sports-luxury cars, celebrates its inaugural year as Title Sponsor and establishes an unmistakable Italian flair in race bred performance vehicles alongside a gallant troupe of thoroughbred horses. The four-day, globally renowned sporting event, features top polo players from around the world competing in two tournaments for both men and women. Six teams will include some of the world’s top-ranked players. The Raleigh, led by team captain, Bash Kazi, will return to defend their 2011 title, and favorites including Luis Escobar, Nic Roldan, John Gobin, Kris Kampsen and Pelon Escapite are all anticipated to return to battle for this year’s coveted trophy. FOURTH ANNUAL GAY PARADE: The fourth annual Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade and Festival will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 on Miami Beach’s ocean Drive. This city-wide celebration is a collaboration of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) community. Events include a parade/festival on Ocean Drive, a kick-off reception and evening show, a Lambda showcase theater event, an after-party and more. There will also be LGBT-friendly vendors and businesses, refreshments, food, and a family-friendly play zone. The Grand Marshal will be Chaz Bono. MARLINS PARK GETS READY TO PLAY BALL: Marlins Park will be preparing for Opening Night on April 4, 2012 hosting thousands of baseball fans with the opener game Florida Marlins against the St. Louis Cardinals. WET TRANSPORTATION LAUNCHES IN MIAMI: The city’s newest form of transportation, the water taxi Miami, has launched between six stations along Biscayne Bay. The Water Taxi is a 38-passenger boat which transports locals, tourists and business people traveling between downtown, Brickell and Miami Beach. The schedule runs daily from 9am-9:30pm but will increase as demand grows. Stations are located in several areas along the Miami waterline. The water taxi is a convenient and affordable way to get around and avoid traffic. Tickets start at $12 one way, $20 round trip and children under age 3 ride free. Monthly passes are also available.
