Howling Coyote Coffeehouse & Open Mic

A staple of the downtown ArtRamble since February of 2006, the Howling Coyote started out as a jam session for local musicians and quickly grew into a showcase featuring some of finest talent Las Cruces has to offer. The monthly event now makes the Rio Grande Theatre its home and continues to feature primarily acoustic musicians, singers and songwriters with family-appropriate material. Showtime is 7pm. Film Las Cruces

The Rio Grande Theatre and the City of Las Cruces Film Liaison present a monthly film forum on the second Wednesday of each month, in which trailers for locally made films are screened alongside short films by student filmmakers, followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and industry news as it pertains to our area. This month, Film Las Cruces will present the documentary, Made In New Mexico, an inside look at the film and media-making industry in New Mexico, from its history to its future, with a presentation by director Brent Morris. NMSU Outdoor Rec presents MountainFilm On Tour

NMSU Outdoor Rec\'s Adventure Arts Series continues, showcasing documentaries and guest lecturers on topics ranging from pressing environmental issues to extreme outdoor sports. Each year, a selection of films from the MountainFilm Festival in Telluride, are taken on the road to reach audiences who otherwise wouldn\'t have a chance to experience them. Those films display themes of adventure, mountaineering, remarkable personalities and important environmental and social messages. Showtime is 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm. The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra

The Doña Ana Arts Council and Rio Grande Theatre are proud to welcome the Glenn Miller Orchestra back to Las Cruces, by popular demand! Considered one of the greatest bands of all time, the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently ever since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year under the direction of current musical director, trombonist Gary Tole. Over the years, the band has recorded a number of chart successes, including \"Moonlight Serenade,\" \"In The Mood,\" \"Tuxedo Junction\" and \"Chattanooga Choo Choo.\" Showtime is 7pm; doors open at 6:30pm. LCCCA presents Andrey Ponochevny

Pianist Andrey Ponochevny was the Bronze Medal winner of the 2002 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow and was honored as the featured pianist at the General assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) in Washington, D.C. In addition to this and many other top prizes, he has toured extensively in the United States, where he has been the featured soloist in New York\'s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Weil Recital Hall; the Kennedy Center and Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. and more. Mr. Ponochevny graduated from Belarussian Academy of Music and holds an artist Diploma from TCU, Fort Worth. He teaches piano at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. Every Other Tuesday: LCHS presents Waiting For Lefty

LCHS theatre instructor Charles LeCoq will present a showcase featuring students from his acting classes performing Clifford Odet\'s 1935 one-act play about Depression era America. On Exhibit in the El Paso Electric Gallery

Karla Perry & Penny Simpson

To celebrate For Love Of Art Month, the works of muralist Karla Perry and photorealist Penny Simpson will be on display in the El Paso Electric Gallery, South of the Rio Grande Theatre lobby, for the month of February, 2012. Perry, a well-known area muralist, will have on display samplings of her clever and whimsical work designed to draw viewers into her own special world. Simpson, best known for her watercolor work, uses dramatic lighting and super realism to create dynamic three-dimensional imagery on canvas. Together these two exceptional artists capture the spirit of For Love Of Art Month with vibrancy and accessibility. The exhibit will run through the month of February 2012, beginning with an artist reception on February 3, from 5 to 7pm, as part of the Downtown Art Ramble.

Also included that evening will be the Howling Coyote Coffeehouse/Open Mic, beginning at 7pm. On permanent display in the Clute/Muggenburg Gallery are memorabilia and photos from the Rio Grande Theatre\'s long and illustrious reign in downtown Las Cruces.
