MEMPHIS, TN –November 30, 2011- Throughout 2012, Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis will be commemorating the 35th anniversary year with three new exhibits exploring various sides of the king, special events, merchandise, touring shows and more.

The first exhibit, “Elvis on Tour” will be open for the public on January 5, in conjunction with the Elvis 2012 Birthday Celebration. The exhibit celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Golden Globe award-winning documentary of the same name. The documentary takes an in-depth look at Elvis’ multi-city tour during April of 1972. Artifacts from the exhibit include the producer’s Golden Globe award, jewelry and stage clothing worn by the king during the concerts, rarely-seen photos, videos and more.

“Elvis…Through His Daughter’s Eyes” will open on February 1, Lisa Marie Presley’s birthday, and will highlight the relationship between Elvis and his only child. Presley has been personally involved in the exhibit’s development and planning. Visitors will see numerous items including family photos and home movies that explore her experience of growing up at Graceland and the relationship with her famous father. Artifacts include Presley’s baby foot prints, clothing, childhood tricycle, record player, crib, Gold ID Bracelet given to her by Elvis and much more. This exhibit is featured as part of the Graceland VIP Tour.

The largest exhibit launching during the 35th Anniversary year “Icon: The Influence of Elvis Presley” will open on March 1. This exhibit will feature many artifacts on loan from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland and items from the collections of many of today’s biggest names in music. The exhibit will celebrate Elvis’ status as a music pioneer and icon that paved the way and influenced many of today’s artists and celebrities. Items on display in this exhibit include Sammy Hagar’s Yamaha Red Rocker custom guitar and outfit from his 2004 Van Halen tour, Bono’s “MacPhisto” suit from U2’s Zooropa performances, one of Bill Clinton’s saxophones from The Clinton Presidential Library and Museum, and clothing from James Brown, Elton John, Wanda Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Ringo Star and others. As part of “Icon: The Influence of Elvis Presley,” Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. will also be presenting an online exhibit containing photos of items sent in by fans that represent how Elvis influenced them.

“We will be welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world to Memphis throughout 2012 to celebrate Elvis’ amazing life and career during this 35th anniversary year,” stated Scott Williams, Vice President of Marketing for Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. “These new exhibits will give our first-time guests, as well as those who visit multiple times each year, a new and unique look at aspects of Elvis they have never seen before.”
