Little Rock, Ark. (11/01/11) The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism announced that they will again co-host a national outdoor media conference and photo shoot. “Arkansas: The State of Fishing,” happens Nov. 13-19, 2011 on Lake Ouachita, based out of renowned Mountain Harbor Resort.

Over 20 internationally published writers and photographers will visit Arkansas to experience fishing at its finest. Each media member will be treated to a customized fishing adventure, pursuing everything from largemouth bass to crappies to striped bass to walleyes and monster catfish.

“Arkansas: The State of Fishing” is part media event, part corporate photo shoot for fishing equipment manufacturers Frabill (Jackson, Wis.) and MarCum Technologies (Minneapolis, Minn.). Award winning photographer and videographer, Bill Lindner, son of the famed Ron Lindner and nephew of Al Lindner, will be on the business end of the camera. Imagery and video will be used for promotional videos, press releases, freelance articles, retail displays, catalogs, websites, and will be widely distributed throughout all sport fishing media channels.

“We are excited to have these first-class fishing companies returning to Arkansas,” said Dena Woerner, one of the event’s chief architects. “Lake Ouachita, specifically, provides the ideal backdrop for their promotional photo shoots=aigns.

And for the writers… Catching fish and going home with stories to tell the world is a given.”

Noel Vick, President of fishing-focused PR group Traditions Media and co-organizer of the event, provides additional insight as to why Arkansas’s Lake Ouachita was selected. “Up north, November puts us between openwater season and the lakes freezing over for ice fishing. So from a photography and video perspective, we’re in limbo,” Vick explained. “Having a southern partner like Arkansas affords us the opportunity to keep producing material when it’s impossible in our own backyard.”

That, and we get the opportunity to expose media members to premium fishing gear and an amazing location to test those products. I suspect they won’t mind Mountain Harbor’s amazing lakeside accommodations, either. Definitely in the top five resorts I’ve ever stayed.”

Sponsoring the actual media event, in addition to Frabill and MarCum, are a host of blue-chip fishing equipment companies, including Lund Boats (New York Mills, Minn.), St. Croix Rods (Park Falls, Wis.), Hobie Kayaks (Oceanside, Cal.), Aquateko (Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.) and Arkansas’s own industry giant PRADCO (Fort Smith, Ark.), makers of YUM, Bomber, Rebel, and other popular lure brands.

Media members attending the event write for celebrated publications such as In-Fisherman, Bassmaster, FLW Outdoors, North American Fisherman, Outdoor Life, Game & Fish Publications (representing 20 unique state titles), Crappie World, Field and Stream, and numerous fishing designated websites including BassFan, Wired2Fish, and the popular social media site Go Fishin’.
