The Science Center’s popular

science of wine series returns

September 8th at 7pm with the

latest installment is titled Science

Uncorked—Sight & Smell. True

wine enjoyment involves more than

just taste. What we see and what we

smell is critically important to the

process.

Led by industry veteran Sharon

Charny, participants will use the

official A.C. Noble Wine Aroma

Wheel as a guide through a journey

of discovering the aromas found in

wines, creating a basis for learning

about wine tasting. Sharon’s efforts

focus on developing innovative

techniques combining her food

and wine knowledge to create

successful wine programs for hotels,

caterers and white tablecloth

restaurants. Science Uncorked

participants will have access to

the “insider knowledge” that wine

professionals use to understand and

distinguish between different types

of wine.

Exercises like palate calibration

will be conducted to demonstrate

where on the palate the four structural components of wine fall on the tongue and

in the mouth. In addition, exploring “Live” wines to put tasting

techniques into practice accompany the program.

All Science Uncorked events are designed to be informal,

group learning experiences that encourage active participation.

The content is accessible for anyone along the wine education

spectrum from novice to expert. Food pairings, a time to mingle

and ask questions, as well as eat and drink follows the

classroom-style program.

Science Uncorked programs often sells out. To purchase tickets

and reserve your space please call 410-545-5980. Tickets are all

inclusive—food, drink and program at $50 per person, $45 per

member.
