Las Cruces, N.M. - The Las Cruces Museum of Art continues its \"Speaking of Art\" lecture series with ceramic artist Danielle Wood on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. \"Speaking of Art\" features regional artists discussing their work on the third Saturday of each month. It is open to the public and admission is free.

Danielle Wood will discuss the evolution of her work from her formative experiences at Arizona State University to her current work as a graduate student at NMSU. The inspiration behind the creative process is found in her love of the ocean, nature, and science. Organic anemone-like forms are rendered in fine porcelain.

The meticulously crafted works of art imply a solid life-like appearance and convey a sense of abstract whimsy. Ms. Wood is one of the featured artists in this year\'s juried ceramic show \"From the Ground Up XXV,\" sponsored by the Las Cruces Potter\'s Guild and the Las Cruces Museum of Art.

The Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 491 N. Main Street, next to Branigan Cultural Center. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Museum is closed Sundays and Mondays. For more information, call (575) 541-2137 or visit the website www.las-cruces.org/museums.
