Select the country and object's type Conceptual Artist Marilyn Sahs to Exhibit in the El Paso Electric Gallery This August

Las Cruces, NM - The haunting works of ward-winning conceptual artist Marilyn Sahs will be on display in the El Paso Electric Gallery, South of the Rio Grande Theatre lobby, for the month of August, 2011.

Utilizing untraditional media, such as wood, bed linen, dyes, glues, wax and even food condiments, Marilyn employs a unique technique of adding and subtracting color values to create dreamlike images and permanent linen prints.

Her work has been displayed at the UTEP Glass Gallery, the Ruben Center and the Mesquite Gallery. Among her many awards are first Place in a Quick Draw Competition in Houston, TX and third Place in the Open Category at last year's Color Las Cruces Plein Air Competition.

The exhibit in the El Paso Electric Gallery will run through the month of August 2011, beginning with an artist reception on August 5, from 5 to 7pm, as part of the Downtown Art Ramble. Also included that evening will be the regular Literary Open Mic in the Rio Grande Theatre auditorium, from 5:30 to 7pm, followed by the Howling Coyote Coffeehouse & Open Mic, directly afterwards.

On permanent display in the Clute/Muggenburg Gallery are memorabilia and photos from the Rio Grande Theatre's long and illustrious reign in downtown Las Cruces.

The Rio Grande Theatre galleries, located in the lobby of the historic Rio Grande Theatre at 211 N. Main in Las Cruces, are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. For more information, contact the DAAC office at (575) 523-6403.
