Select the country and object's type 5,000 Flowers: An Art Show to Commemorate September 11

Hundreds of miniature works of art created by artists from the United States and Canada will we shown at the Branigan Cultural Center Sept. 2-30 to observe the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

In this one of a kind commemoration of 9/11, blocks painted with 10 flowers each have been attached to two towers representing the Twin Towers in New York City. Original works of poetry were also penned for the towers.

Sponsored by the GFWC Progress Club of Las Cruces, the 10th anniversary of "5,000 Flowers" will be the final show, and the towers will be donated as works of art for the public to continue to enjoy. Creativity and community spirit have come together to pay homage to those who were lost.

The show, which will be held at the Branigan Cultural Center, will open with a reception during the Downtown Ramble art walk on Sept. 2 from 5-7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

Another reception hosted by the GFWC Progress Club will be held for the artists and general public on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. at the Branigan Cultural Center.
