The unique bloggers’ programme at the Nordic Travel Fair MATKA exceeded all expectations: 100 international top-bloggers applying for the Nordic Travel Fair Matka

Nowadays the entire travel industry operates almost entirely online and also the Nordic Travel Fair Matka has strengthened its position in the social media. In January the event will introduce a whole new concept with international travel bloggers. In addition to that, more Finnish travel bloggers are expected to participate than ever before. The travel fever and fair buzz will live on in the virtual world of blogs also after the event.

The Nordic Bloggers\' Experience for international bloggers is a unique form of programme organised for the first time in Finland. It is organized in cooperation with Visit Helsinki and Visit Finland and has already stimulated a lot of interest among international travel bloggers. From over 100 applicants 40 bloggers were chosen. Together these bloggers reach over 1 million followers around the world.

The Nordic Bloggers\' Experience starts already a few days before the event as the bloggers get a chance to get acquainted with Finland. Their programme includes trips from Lapland to the most southern parts of Finland and from husky safaris to local cuisine. Themes of these trips include design, food and adventures in the nature. After getting a glimpse of Finland, the bloggers return to Helsinki and to the Matka fair where they have the opportunity to meet travel professionals around the world. After the fair the bloggers spend an additional day in Helsinki familiarizing themselves with the capital city, its design, cuisine and nature.

Fairs and bloggers join forces:

Travel blogs and bloggers are also seen in other programme of the Matka fair. The possibilities of cooperation between the travel industry and travel bloggers is already discussed a day before the event in the seminar organised by the Association of Finnish Travel Agents (AFTA). The seminar introduces successful bloggers, one of which is Sebastian Canaves who has 50,000 followers.

Also Finnish travel bloggers are invited to the Matka fair to familiarize themselves with interesting travel destinations and exhibitors. Together these social medias, blogs and fairs, support each other in creating discussion, fresh viewpoints and new experiences.

The Nordic Travel Fair Matka is the largest travel event in Northern Europe and is organised 16 – 19 January 2014 at Messukeskus, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki. In 2014 the theme country is the versatile Latvia, which offers travelers peace, clean nature, relaxing spas and delicious cuisine. Latvia’s capital Riga is the European Capital of Culture.
