Norwegian Getaway’s Ice Bar will be Miami’s coolest place to chill out

Ship’s Miami-themed Ice Bar to feature Florida-inspired SVEDKA speciality cocktails and Inniskillin Ice Wine

Wiesbaden, September 12, 2013 – Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that Norwegian Getaway, the largest ship to homeport in Miami year-round, will feature a true ice bar on board, featuring three dimensional icy elements inspired by the ship’s Magic City home. Kept at minus 8 degrees Celsius, the ship’s ice bar will feature Art Deco-style décor, reminiscent of Miami Beach’s famous Ocean Drive. In addition, through an exclusive partnership with SVEDKA Vodka and Inniskillin ice wine, the Ice Bar will be named “SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar” and will feature Florida-inspired speciality SVEDKA and Inniskillin ice wine cocktails.

Like sister-ship Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway’s frozen chamber is guaranteed to give guests the ultimate chill. Adorned with South Florida-inspired elements such as South Beach’s iconic Ocean Drive skyline and palm trees etched into the icy walls, a “Welcome to Miami Beach” sign and a life-size alligator throne made entirely of ice, Norwegian Getaway’s Ice Bar will be Miami’s coolest place to chill out. In addition, the entire bar, seating and glassware will all also be made of ice.

Located on deck eight, the SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar will accommodate approximately 25 guests at a time, who will don hooded coats and gloves to keep warm, since the artic-like room’s temperature will not rise above minus 8 degrees Celsius.

Entrance to the SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar Ice Bar can be reserved from 17:30 to 22:30 nightly. The cost is U.S. $20 per person and includes two signature cocktails that will be served in specially-created glasses made entirely of ice. The SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar will feature six Florida-inspired speciality drinks made from SVEDKA vodka and Inniskillin ice wine including:

· Tropicana: SVEDKA citron vodka, triple sec, lemon juice;

· Carmen Miranda: SVEDKA vodka, peach liquor, orange juice;

· Sittin’ on the Dock of Biscayne Bay: SVEDKA citron vodka, Inniskillin ice wine, lemon-lime soda;

· Blue Caribbean: Inniskillin ice wine, SVEDKA vodka, blue curacao, club soda;

· Key Largo Colada: SVEDKA colada, campari, sweet vermouth, orange syrup

The Ice Bar will also serve two non-alcoholic drinks: the Sting Ray, made of strawberry puree, pineapple juice and lemon juice; and Parrot Island, made of orange juice, vanilla ice cream and milk.

Imported from Sweden, SVEDKA vodka is premium vodka that is distilled five times. Inniskillin ice wine is made from grapes that are produced in the Niagara Peninsula. Pearl ice wine, which is used in the SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar cocktails, is an intensely concentrated sweet wine made from grapes naturally frozen on the vine. Grapes for this ice wine are harvested at a temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar, SVEDKA vodkas and Inniskillin ice wines will be available in all bars and restaurants on board Norwegian Getaway.

About SVEDKA Vodka and Inniskillin Ice Wine

Established in 1998, SVEDKA Vodka launched with a brand vision: to put fun back into the vodka category. SVEDKA is a premium vodka imported from Sweden and distilled five times. It is the one brand that lets consumers have it all: a high-quality, premium import with a hip, fun brand image at an affordable price. The brand is the fastest-growing premium spirits brand worldwide. SVEDKA has staked its claim on the future with the tagline \"Voted #1 Vodka of 2033\". Inniskillin was founded upon and is dedicated to the principle of producing outstanding ice wines from grapes grown in the Niagara Peninsula. It is the number one selling ice wine in the world. The wine is a brilliant golden colour with aromas of lychee, apricot and pears with flavours of honey, mango and tropical fruits on the palate.

Norwegian Getaway

Being developed as “Miami’s ship”, Norwegian Getaway will embody the essence of her tropical hometown with hull artwork by Miami’s own David “LEBO” LeBatard, which features a whimsical mermaid holding the sun above the waves.

Featuring ground-breaking entertainment, the ship is the first to feature the GRAMMY® Experience at sea, which will include artefacts chosen and curated by the GRAMMY Museum® along with live performances by past GRAMMY winners and nominees, among others. Another first of its kind at sea, The Illusionarium is an all-new dining and entertainment experience that will envelop guests in the fascinating world of magic, inviting them to experience the astonishing illusions of world-class magicians and supernatural special effects. In addition, Norwegian Getaway boasts sizzling Latin-inspired dance productions by Broadway sensation, Burn the Floor; performances of the seven-time Tony Award nominated musical Legally Blonde; hilarious comedy headliners produced by Levity Entertainment Group; and the sing along fun of the duelling pianos of Howl at the Moon. To cap off a spectacular cruise experience, every sailing will feature a dazzling fireworks show at sea, set to music, as part of a dance party in the ship’s outdoor club, Spice H2O.

Similar to sister ship Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway will dazzle guests with the excitement of 678 Ocean Place and The Waterfront, a variety of interconnected indoor and outdoor venues on three dynamic decks that creates a multiplex of dining, activities and more and enhances guests’ connection with the ocean.

Foodies setting sail from Miami on Norwegian Getaway can feast in their choice of 26 incredible dining options, including one of Celebrity Chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian’s three dining concepts: Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian; Ocean Blue on the Waterfront and The Raw Bar.

For families, Nickelodeon®, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, is on board and includes a variety of exciting interactive experiences, along with the opportunity to meet SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Dora the Explorer and Diego, among other favourites. Norwegian Getaway will offer the all-new “Name that Game”, an exciting combination of trivia, speed, skill and slime, where participants will hit the buzzer, race the clock and get extreme as they experience the best of Nickelodeon’s famous game shows live on one stage. Norwegian Getaway will also include an all new pirate-themed Nickelodeon Kids’ Aqua Park where children can cool off with colourful, whimsical and larger than life Nickelodeon characters from Bikini Bottom.

The three-storey Sports Complex will feature the Aqua Park with five thrilling water slides, two swimming pools and one of the largest multi-level elevated ropes course that will challenge guests to more than 40 different elements, including a zip track. For a thrill like no other, guests will confront The Plank, a platform that extends 2,4 metres over the side of the ship. A nine-hole miniature golf course is located beneath the ropes course, offering family fun with friendly competition. A rock climbing wall, bungee trampoline and spider web, a 7-metre enclosed climbing cage complete with a spiral slide, round out the activities.

Norwegian Getaway offers a variety of flexible accommodation choices ranging from Studios specially designed for solo travellers, to balcony and family staterooms and opulent suites in The Haven, the ultimate in luxury accommodation.
